Big day today.
Camille came over to watch our son. That left us to dig lots of holes and plant lots of tomatoes.
In the morning I brought over three more wheelbarrows of compost to the "koi pond" and smoothed out the compost piles. I did the same for the back yard compost piles. Then I dug six holes in the "koi pond" and took a break for breakfast.
It was significantly warmer after breakfast. I dug a hole or two in the back yard and stopped for exhaustion. These back yard holes were trouble because they were in virgin, rocky areas. It took a significant amount of time to clear out about two feet of dirt. I took a shower in the afternoon and took a short nap.
Meanwhile my wife was furiously planting behind me in both the front and back yards.
In the evening I dug three more holes in the "koi pond" and one really rocky hole in the back yard. My wife filled all the holes (save one in the "koi pond" that she thought was too close to another seedling) with seedlings.
Eight tomato plants were planted in the back yard: Green Grape, Red Pear Piriform, Chef's Choice Orange, Green Zebra, Tasmanian Chocolate, Thessaloniki, Speckled Roman and Large Barred Boar.
Eight tomato plants were planted in the front yard: Black Cherry, Paul Robeson, Carol Chyko's Big Paste Black, Earl of Edgecombe, Japanese Black Trifele, Berkeley Tie-Dye, Emmy and Stupice.
I believe we have around seven more seedlings to plant.

Harvested Purple Bumble Bee!
Today's harvest includes 18 Matt's Wild Cherry, 13 Orange Paruche, 12 Sunchocola, 12 Evan's Purple Pear, 11 SunGold, 8 Husky Cherry Red(1), 7 Indigo Rose, 7 Husky Cherry Red(2), 6 Sugar Snack, 4 Garden Peach(2), 4 Japanese Black Trifele, 3 Speckled Roman(2), 3 Volunteer(4), 2 Purple Bumble Bee (new), 2 Earl of Edgecombe, 2 Bread and Salt (7.5 ounces), 2 Pineapple, 2 Garden Peach(1), Bloody Butcher, Indigo Apple, Clint Eastwood's Rowdy Red, Porkchop(1), Adriana's Grande, German Orange Strawberry, Hungarian Heart, Blue Gold, Pink Berkeley Tie Dye(1), Blue Beauty, Paul Robeson, Persimmon(2) (not Persimmon), Black Cherry, Stupice, Odoriko and Michael Pollan for a total of 134 tomatoes.
The Purple Bumble Bee tomatoes are pretty cute. They look just like the image in this link, though the red isn't quite as pronounced. It's possible I picked a day early. We'll see...
I spent more time with the back yard harvest today. I didn't get chased out by the sprinklers. I harvested 12 Evan's Purple Pear today, none yesterday. It's a safe bet that some of today's harvest should have been picked yesterday.
We've now harvested over 100 Husky Cherry Red(1) tomatoes (103)!

Harvested Paul Robeson, Porkchop(2) and Japanese Black Trifele!
Today's harvest includes 30 Orange Paruche, 18 SunGold, 17 Matt's Wild Cherry, 15 Sunchocola, 6 Garden Peach(1), 5 Husky Cherry Red(1), 4 Jaune Flamme, 4 Green Grape, 3 Bloody Butcher, 3 Indigo Rose, 3 Evan's Purple Pear, 3 Black Cherry, 3 Husky Cherry Red(2), 3 Garden Peach(3), 3 Sugar Snack, 2 Paul Robeson (new), 2 Speckled Roman(2), 2 Snow White, 2 Stupice, 2 Michael Pollan, Porkchop(2) (new), Japanese Black Trifele (new), Indigo Apple, Clint Eastwood's Rowdy Red, Yellow Perfection, Hungarian Heart (7.5 ounces), Blue Beauty, Ananas Noire (7 ounces), Pink Berkeley Tie Dye(2) and Garden Peach(2) for a total of 140 tomatoes.
The Japanese Black Trifele was no surprise, neither was Paul Robeson (not sure if I mentioned this tomato as maturing) but Porkchop(2) was a bit of a surprise. However, the Paul Robesons and Porkchop(2) are undersized. Japanese Black Trifele, in a container, isn't undersized.
I had a screw up in yesterday's blog post. I originally posted it as 39 Sunchocola/15 Orange Paruche. These totals were switched; it was 39 Orange Paruche/15 Sunchocola. The blog post was fixed as well as the Orange Paruche total for the year at the bottom of the post. Exciting news to read, I'm sure...
Today marks a significant event: It's the first date in July where the back yard total is larger than the front yard total. And it wasn't close (88 back yard, 52 front yard). There were three or four dates where the harvest numbers were close, but not until today did it cross over. The three new tomatoes are all from the back yard.
The first wave from the front yard is over. Sunchocola numbers are down significantly and Orange Paruche numbers will fall soon. This does not mean there won't be a second wave for these two tomato plants -- in fact I expect it -- but the numbers for the next several weeks will be weak. Meanwhile, the back yard is still in the first wave.
Last night we tried some Blue Beauty tomatoes in a salad. Blue Beauty tomatoes taste good but the taste is not nearly as memorable as the tomato's exterior (which is near spectacular, I think).
I found the tomato dehydrator in our garage this morning. We may have dehydrated tomato chips in the very near future...
We've now harvested over 3500 tomatoes for the year (3581)! We've also harvested over 800 Orange Paruche tomatoes in July (804) and over 600 Sunchocola tomatoes in July (603)!

Harvested SunGold, Bread and Salt and Sugar Snack!
Today's harvest includes 8 Orange Paruche, 2 SunGold (new), 2 Sunchocola, Bread and Salt (new) and Sugar Snack (new) for a total of 14 tomatoes.
The scrub jay got another maturing Jaune Flamme...
Aunt Ruby's German Green and Japanese Black Trifele have growing tomatoes.
My wife and I put more netting around Jaune Flamme, Sugar Snack and Bread and Salt.
The harvested Bread and Salt is a distressed tomato. I've noted that some tomatoes with issues -- in this case an exposed area the size of a dime -- mature earlier than others. It wouldn't surprise me if we don't use this tomato. It also wouldn't surprise me that the next ripe Bread and Salt tomato will be a couple of weeks away.

Finished Tomato Planting for 2014
During the week I did a little bit of training and a little bit of watering.
On Thursday we planted in more of our containers. We planted Green Zebra, Golden Rave and Japanese Black Trifele.
On Saturday our lemon tree was finally trimmed. I made four holes underneath the lemon tree and my wife planted Blush, Great White, Blue Gold (Siberian Tiger) and Pink Berkeley Tie Dye(1). The Pink Berkeley Tie Dye grown from seed is now a keeper and will be designated as Pink Berkeley Tie Dye(2).
My wife had tested the bottom of the pulp pot containing Green Zebra. Unfortunately, it gave. However, we had an extra pulp pot container so this evening we transferred Green Zebra into the new unused container.
This may be it for the tomato planting this year (Famous last words). My wife has the seedling count at 64 but I'll defer to my on line spreadsheet after it's fully updated.
Just about all the tomato plants look terrific. I'll list the ones that aren't. These include Paul Robeson and Black Cherry in the back yard. Both aren't growing as rapidly as the others, they have leaf curl and the color isn't as healthy as I would like. Both of these plants appear to have come from the same grower. Hmmm.... In the front yard, Vorlon has very good color but isn't growing as rapidly as the other plants in the "koi pond".
Other than that, we're off to the races!
It's my understanding that we're getting a big heat wave in the middle of the week, so we'll try to get all the tomato plants watered before then.

This harvest was brought down to my in-laws the next day.
Wednesday's harvest includes 5 Sweet 100, 5 Garden Peach, 3 SunGold(2), 2 Husky Cherry Red, 2 Supersweet 100, 2 Black Cherry, 2 Snow White, Pineapple, Dr. Wyche's Yellow (13 ounces), SunGold(1), Ananas Noire (8.5 ounces), "Rosella Purple" (Aunt Ruby's German Green) and Husky Red(1) for a total of 27 tomatoes.
There was no harvest on Thursday.
I don't remember the exact day it was made...but my wife made tomato sauce from our tomatoes. She let the sauce simmer for six hours and pulled out the skins as they separated. After boiling it down she added various spices and on a whim added green olives. I don't know what it was but we both agreed that this was the best sauce she ever made! And my wife has made fabulous tomato sauce before. But it was absolutely out of this world delicious.
Friday's harvest includes 8 SunGold(1), 6 SunGold(2), 4 Garden Peach, 4 Husky Cherry Red, 3 Amos Coli, 3 Supersweet 100, 3 Yellow Perfection, 2 Juliet, 2 Isis Candy, Pineapple, Dr. Wyche's Yellow (8.5 ounces), Shah/Mikado, Snow White, Cuor de Bue and Husky Red(2) for a total of 41 tomatoes.
There was no harvest on Saturday.
However, my wife watered the back yard tomatoes on this day. A couple of days prior she had watered the front yard tomatoes.
In the evening we tried one of the Dr. Wyches's Yellow tomatoes (sweet and yummy) and an Aunt Ruby's German Green (same for the interior, but had a thicker skin). Both worked.
Sunday's harvest includes 6 SunGold(2), 5 SunGold(1), 5 Shah/Mikado, 4 Black Cherry, 3 Husky Cherry Red, 3 Snow White, 3 Supersweet 100, 2 Juliet, 2 Yellow Perfection, 2 Blue Beauty, 2 Garden Peach, Amos Coli, Speckled Roman(1), Dr. Wyche's Yellow (11.5 ounces), Jersey Giant, Black and Brown Boar, Japanese Black Trifele, "Something Orange", Cuor de Bue, "Rosella Purple" (Aunt Ruby's German Green) and Husky Red(1) for a total of 47 tomatoes.
Monday's harvest includes 4 Supersweet 100, 3 Isis Candy, 3 Snow White, 2 Black Cherry, 2 SunGold(1), 2 Cuor de Bue, SunGold(2), Husky Cherry Red, Yellow Perfection, Dr. Wyche's Yellow (13 ounces), Jersey Giant, Piement, Japanese Black Trifele, Speckled Roman(2) and Juliet for a total of 25 tomatoes.
I found a hornworm eating a Grande tomato today. I was really surprised by it but there it was! I tossed the hornworm away and threw away the tomato.
Today's harvest includes 13 Black Cherry, 3 Isis Candy, Husky Cherry Red, Pineapple, SunGold(1), Blue Beauty, Grande, Garden Peach, Amos Coli, Snow White, Cuor de Bue (6 ounces), Supersweet 100 and Juliet for a total of 27 tomatoes.

Harvested Over 350 Black Cherry Tomatoes This Year!
Today's harvest includes 14 Sweet 100, 13 Black Cherry, 11 Snow White, 8 SunGold(2), 4 Supersweet 100, 4 Isis Candy, 3 SunGold(1), 3 Juliet, 3 Green Grape, 2 Husky Cherry Red, 2 Grande (9 ounces, 10.5 ounces), 2 Jaune Flamme, 2 Indigo Rose, 2 Blue Beauty, Pineapple, Paul Robeson, Piement (6 ounces), Japanese Black Trifele, Speckled Roman(2), Garden Peach and "Rosella Purple" (Aunt Ruby's German Green) (11 ounces) for a total of 80 tomatoes.
We've now harvested over 350 Black Cherry tomatoes this year (356)! The Black Cherry crop has been fairly plentiful and good tasting this year so we're happy for that.
The larger tomatoes look nice. There were a lot of cherry tomatoes in today's harvest. Most of these cherry tomatoes will be given to cleaning people that come to our house every other Thursday.

Harvested Three New Tomatoes and a 30 Ounce Dr. Wyche's Yellow!
Today's harvest includes 18 Black Cherry, 7 Supersweet 100, 6 Indigo Rose, 4 Blue Beauty, 3 Jersey Giant, 3 Husky Cherry Red, 3 Pineapple Pig (13 ounces, 8 ounces), 3 Missouri Pink Love Apple, 2 Garden Peach, 2 Japanese Black Trifele, 2 Jaune Flamme, 2 Isis Candy, 2 Shah/Mikado, SunGold(2) (new), Cuor de Bue (8.5 ounces, new), "Something Orange" (11 ounces, new), Hungarian Heart (6 ounces), Porkchop, Yellow Perfection, Black Krim, Speckled Roman(1), Dr. Wyche's Yellow (30 ounces), Speckled Roman(2), Sweet 100 and Husky Red(1) for a total of 69 tomatoes.
The Dr. Wyche's Yellow tomato was a big, big surprise. The tomato was buried in the middle of the plant. I had no idea we had a tomato that big. This ties the 30 ounce Mexico tomato I harvested a few years back.
I use a child's bowl as the receptacle for holding tomatoes. I needed two hands to harvest this tomato so I set the bowl with the Black Cherry and Speckled Roman(1) tomatoes down on the ground. When I pulled off the Dr. Wyche's Yellow tomato, the tomato fell out of my hands and caught the lip of the bowl. That put an ugly gash in the Dr. Wyche's Yellow tomato and sent the harvested tomatoes in the bowl scattering everywhere. I'm still not sure I found them all.
The new Cuor de Bue tomato looks nice but it still needs a day or two to fully mature.
The "Something Orange" tomato looks nice but we don't know what it is. On the online spreadsheet I labeled it as Orange Paruche?. The tomato is orange, I'll grant you that but it sure isn't Orange Paruche. Orange Paruche is a cherry tomato and this 11 ounce tomato isn't a cherry tomato. My best guess right now is that it's another Kellogg's Breakfast. But for now it's a mystery.
All in all it was a pretty good haul today.

Harvested Kentucky Beefsteak!
Tuesday's harvest includes 13 Black Cherry, 6 Snow White, 5 Sweet 100, 5 Supersweet 100, 3 Husky Red(1), 2 Speckled Roman(1), 2 Isis Candy, 2 Dr. Wyche's Yellow (14.5 ounces), 2 Indigo Rose, 2 Blue Beauty, 2 Piement, 2 Husky Cherry Red, 2 SunGold(1), 2 Porkchop, Hungarian Heart (7 ounces), Jersey Giant, Missouri Pink Love Apple, Green Grape, Speckled Roman(2), Amos Coli (8 ounces), Ananas Noire (16 ounces) and Juliet for a total of 58 tomatoes.
Most if not all of today's harvest was brought to my in-laws later in the day.
Wednesday's harvest includes 7 Garden Peach, 6 Black Cherry, 4 Shah/Mikado, 3 Husky Cherry Red, 3 Supersweet 100, 3 Blue Beauty, 2 Missouri Pink Love Apple, 2 Black and Brown Boar, 2 Green Grape, 2 Berkeley Tie Dye, 2 Crynkovic (7 ounces), 2 Isis Candy, 2 Juliet, 2 Sweet 100, 2 Japanese Black Trifele, 2 Speckled Roman(1), 2 Dr. Wyche's Yellow (13 ounces, 9.5 ounces), 2 Stupice, Hungarian Heart, Vorlon, Jersey Giant and Pineapple Pig for a total of 54 tomatoes.
We've now harvested over 1000 tomatoes for July! Some of Wednesday's harvest was brought to a barista in Tarzana.
Today's harvest includes 15 Black Cherry, 8 Shah/Mikado, 6 Sweet 100, 6 Supersweet 100, 5 Isis Candy, 5 Garden Peach, 3 Snow White, 3 Juliet, 2 Missouri Pink Love Apple, 2 Blue Beauty, 2 Jaune Flamme, Kentucky Beefsteak (new), SunGold(1), Green Grape, Husky Cherry Red, Hungarian Heart, Porkchop, Yellow Perfection, Berkeley Tie Dye, Jersey Giant and German Orange Strawberry for a total of 67 tomatoes.
This ends a four day slide in the harvest numbers. But having noted that, it's clear it will not only be a bad year according to the numbers, it may be an atrocious year. Still, I've been pleased with the full sized tomatoes so far. But there's been a lot, and I mean a lot of tomatoes that are miniature-sized versions of their full sized brethren.

Harvested A Mini Japanese Black Trifele
Yesterday's harvest includes 15 Black Cherry, 8 Sweet 100, 6 Vorlon (8 ounces, 6 ounces, 10 ounces), 5 Garden Peach, 4 Juliet, 4 Supersweet 100, 4 Husky Cherry Red, 4 Blue Beauty, 3 German Orange Strawberry (8 ounces), 3 Shah/Mikado, 2 Indigo Rose, 2 Speckled Roman(2), 2 Michael Pollan, 2 Hungarian Heart, 2 Dr. Wyche's Yellow (8.5 ounces, 12 ounces), Clint Eastwood's Rowdy Red(1), Stupice, Yellow Perfection, Black Krim (8 ounces), Snow White, Anana's Noire (18 ounces) and Husky Red(1) for a total of 73 tomatoes.
Today's harvest includes 17 Black Cherry, 10 Sweet 100, 6 Husky Cherry Red, 6 Blue Beauty, 4 Garden Peach, 3 Vorlon, 3 Berkeley Tie Dye, 3 Juliet, 3 Jaune Flamme, 3 Black Krim (8.5 ounces, 10 ounces), 2 Speckled Roman(1), 2 Supersweet 100, 2 German Orange Strawberry (7 ounces), 2 Piement, 2 Clint Eastwood's Rowdy Red(1), 2 Yellow Perfection, 2 Shah/Mikado, 2 Pineapple, Japanese Black Trifele (new), Porkchop, Black Seaman, Dr. Wyche's Yellow, Speckled Roman(2) and Snow White for a total of 80 tomatoes.
The Michael Pollan plant is basically dead. I don't want any more tomatoes off of this plant. This is somewhat amazing because three weeks ago I could argue that it's the strongest plant I had. Maybe a cutworm got it, maybe it couldn't handle the heat...but I won't harvest from this plant again. There are a few unripened ones sitting on our sill that I may count toward the final total...but the plant is dead. Pierce's Pride, Nyagous, Green Zebra, Black Seaman are functionally dead as well. Green Zebra has been dead for two weeks but we've had no time to pull it.
Piement has an amazing texture! The tomato is unique. It looks like a pepper. Take a chili from the Chile's Restaurant logo and straighten it out -- that's the look of Piement. And it tastes good, too. I don't think I've ever had a tomato with such a pleasant texture. Blue Beauty was good, Shah/Mikado was good but Piement was really good.
While Japanese Black Trifele is a new tomato, it is very small. This falls in line with some of our other plants like Clint Eastwood's Rowdy Red(1), Black Seaman, Berkeley Tie Dye, Pineapple, Pierce's Pride and maybe others.
I think this will be a bad year by comparison to other years. There are lots of "too small" tomatoes, weak/dying tomato plants and more blossom end rot than most years. I think the tomato seedlings were not as strong as prior years.
Today's harvest includes 17 Black Cherry, 10 Sweet 100, 6 Husky Cherry Red, 6 Blue Beauty, 4 Garden Peach, 3 Vorlon, 3 Berkeley Tie Dye, 3 Juliet, 3 Jaune Flamme, 3 Black Krim (8.5 ounces, 10 ounces), 2 Speckled Roman(1), 2 Supersweet 100, 2 German Orange Strawberry (7 ounces), 2 Piement, 2 Clint Eastwood's Rowdy Red(1), 2 Yellow Perfection, 2 Shah/Mikado, 2 Pineapple, Japanese Black Trifele (new), Porkchop, Black Seaman, Dr. Wyche's Yellow, Speckled Roman(2) and Snow White for a total of 80 tomatoes.

4/20 Iris Show was a success; Planted 3 More Seedlings
I dug two holes in the backyard on Monday night. By Thursday morning, however, we hadn't put seedlings into these holes.
Catching up on other items...my wife watered the front yard tomatoes on Sunday and the "south garden" tomatoes on Monday.
The planted seedlings are doing just fine. However the "south garden" tomatoes are particularly thriving. My wife planted all grafted tomatoes in this area. They are doing really, really well so far.
--
And as you've noticed, I've posted this on Sunday night. Some things happened between now and then...
All the seedlings got watered on Friday. And on Friday evening I turned the dirt in the redwood raised bed. Also, we planted two more seedlings, Indigo Rose and Japanese Black Trifele.
But my wife had been prepping for the San Fernando Valley Iris Society tour of our house on 4/20. She had been prepping feverishly for days on end, dead heading roses, clearing out the area just east of the south gate, planting strawberries, you name it. It's been a frenzy for several days.
Finally, the big day, Saturday. My wife surprised me by planting Clint Eastwood's Rowdy Red(2) in the redwood raised bed. We moved some pots in the morning but a vast majority of the work was already done.
The first person showed up around noon, the last around 4PM, about 25 people in all. We suspect there would have been more if it wasn't so hot that day. But nonetheless it was a rousing success. Everyone was impressed with the garden in both the front and back yards. My wife thinks people talked about tomato seedlings more than irises, but I disagree. To a person, everyone was impressed.
Sunday was mostly a rest day for both of us. My wife was decompressing from Saturday's event and I've been battling something for several weeks. My wife thinks it's allergies. That's as good an explanation as anything out there.

Fourteen Plants Pulled...
Today's harvest includes 10 Snow White(1), 3 Amana Orange, 3 Indigo Rose, 2 Snow White(2), 2 Carmello, 2 Delicious (6 ounces), Husky Cherry Red(1), Thessaloniki, Nebraska Wedding, Japanese Black Trifele, Pierce's Pride(1), Porkchop(1), SunGold, Ella's Pink Plum, Big Bite (6 ounces), Brad's Black Heart, Italian Heirloom, Marianna's Peace (6 ounces) and Marmara for a total of 35 tomatoes.
The gardeners did come and pull tomatoes. A lot of them, all in the back yard. The list includes Black Cherry(1), Brad's Black Heart, Black From Tula, Japanese Black Trifele, Black Cherry(2), Marianna's Peace, Noire Charbonneuse(2), Indigo Apple(2), Earl of Edgecombe, Gypsy, Marmara, Red Boar(1), Indigo Rose and Red Boar(2)...14 plants in all. And the ones I listed yesterday need to be removed as well.
Having noted that, I wasn't expecting either Black Cherry to be pulled. But it's done. The raised bed is now cleared out with the removal of Indigo Rose and Red Boar(2). The ground will be prepared for winter crops.
Some of the pulled plants had salvageable tomatoes, which were added to today's totals.
Will we break our all time record? Perhaps, but the removal of the two Black Cherry plants puts it in some doubt.
On a bookkeeping note, Garden Peach was pulled a while ago. I guessed the date as August 22.

Harvested Over 750 Black Cherry(1) Tomatoes!
Today's harvest includes 8 Black Cherry(1), 7 Snow White(1), 4 Indigo Rose, 3 Yellow Perfection, 3 Black Cherry(2), 3 Japanese Black Trifele, 2 Carmello, 2 Husky Cherry Red(1), 2 Thessaloniki, 2 Indigo Apple(2), 2 Oaxacan Jewel, 2 Red Currant, 2 Big Bite, SunGold, Black and Brown Boar(2), Purple Dog Creek (6 ounces), Marmara, Clint Eastwood's Rowdy Red, Red Boar(2) and Snow White(2) for a total of 49 tomatoes.
Yesterday we did nothing with the tomatoes except harvest them in the morning. After the harvest I took a shower and my wife and I spent the morning at Paradise Cove. We left around noon, drove home, changed into swim trunks and went to a friend's house to swim in their pool. We were there for several hours and had a lot of fun! We drove home, showered, then went out to dinner. After dinner we washed the dog. I walked him at night. In essence we relaxed all day and thanked ourselves at the end of the day for doing so.
We've now harvested over 750 Black Cherry(1) tomatoes (751) and over 350 Snow White(1) tomatoes (351) this year!

Harvested Over 150 Indigo Rose Tomatoes!
Today's harvest includes 7 Thessaloniki, 6 Indigo Rose, 6 Yellow Perfection, 5 Black Cherry(1), 4 Husky Cherry Red(1), 2 SunGold, 2 Indigo Apple(2), 2 Snow White(1), Porkchop(1), Black and Brown Boar(1), Dr. Wyche's Yellow, Red Currant, Big Bite, Carmello, Japanese Black Trifele, Amana Orange, Marmara and Red Boar(2) for a total of 44 tomatoes.
It got up to 98.0 yesterday, still pretty hot.
We ended up harvesting 3240 tomatoes for the month of August. That's a very, very solid total considering how hot it was all month.
We've now harvested over 150 Indigo Rose tomatoes for the year (152)! Also, we ended up harvesting 200 Snow White(1) tomatoes and 50 Carmello tomatoes for the month of August.
More plants can be pulled when my wife can get around to pulling them. The August heat was murder on these plants...

Pulled Green Grape Tomato Plant
Today's harvest includes 5 Yellow Perfection, 5 Black Cherry(1), 4 SunGold, 4 Indigo Rose, 3 Thessaloniki, 3 Japanese Black Trifele, 2 Speckled Roman(3), 2 Snow White(1), 2 Snow White(2), Olga's Round Yellow Chicken Egg, Ella's Pink Plum, Big Bite, Carmello, Nebraska Wedding (7 ounces), Purple Dog Creek (8 ounces), Black Cherry(2), Pineapple(2) (11.5 ounces), Marmara and Tolstoi for a total of 40 tomatoes.
It's hot again...104.0 on Tuesday, 103.0 yesterday.
Green Grape was pulled yesterday. I was hoping to make it to 100 tomatoes for Green Grape but it wasn't meant to be. My wife pulled it and found another maturing tomato to reach 99 tomatoes. I added it into yesterday's totals. Also, she finished watering the back yard tomatoes.
When was the last day that I didn't harvest a Husky Cherry Red tomato?
No milestones were hit with this harvest. We're plodding along...

The Brad's Black Heart is a late beauty!
We are now within 100 SunGold tomatoes of our all time harvest for one plant per year (Matt's Wild Cherry, 2727 tomatoes) with 2628 harvested tomatoes so far this year.
It got up to 99 yesterday with as low as 10 percent humidity. It should be even warmer today.
My wife should be pulling out some tomato plants today.
I added fertilizer to the container plants this morning.
We've now harvested over 200 Red Currant tomatoes (201), over 50 Big Bite tomatoes (51) and 50 Thessaloniki tomatoes.

Harvested Over 2500 SunGold Tomatoes!
Today's harvest includes 32 SunGold, 27 Black Cherry(1), 19 Husky Cherry Red(1), 16 Snow White(1), 11 Husky Cherry Red(2), 8 Snow White(2), 5 Indigo Rose, 5 Pineapple Pig, 5 SunSugar, 5 Speckled Roman(2), 5 Sweet Million, 5 Red Currant, 4 Redfield Beauty, 4 Dr. Wyche's Yellow, 3 Indigo Apple(2), 3 Italian Heirloom (6 ounces, 8 ounces, 8 ounces), 2 Oaxacan Pink (6 ounces), 2 Marmara, 2 German Orange Strawberry, 2 Black Cherry(2), 2 Japanese Black Trifele, 2 Carmello, 2 Tolstoi, 2 Yellow Perfection, 2 Big Bite (6 ounces), 2 Clint Eastwood's Rowdy Red, 2 Speckled Roman(1), Nyagous(1), Chinese Tea, Black and Brown Boar(1), Olga's Round Yellow Chicken Egg, Ella's Pink Plum, Thessaloniki, Watermelon (8.5 ounces), Gypsy, Yellow Furry Boar, Jaune Flamme(2), Noire Charbonneuse(2), Black and Brown Boar(2), Aunt Ruby's German Green and Red Boar(1) for a total of 193 tomatoes.
Again, today's numbers got goosed upward because I didn't harvest on Saturday.
Speckled Roman(2) kicked out a lot of tomatoes but it's because the plant has basically died. We have three or four more that can be pulled.
Friday's high: 103.1. Yesterday's high: 97.4. It's still hot but we may get cooler weather in the near future.
We hit a few numeric landmarks today. We've now harvested over 6000 tomatoes from the back yard this year (6074). Also, we've harvested over 2500 SunGold tomatoes (2527), over 750 Husky Cherry Red(2) tomatoes (759), over 650 Black Cherry(1) tomatoes (659), over 250 Snow White(2) tomatoes (254), over 100 Sweet Million tomaotes (104) and over 50 Speckled Roman(2) tomatoes (51).
