Matt's Wild Cherry Has A Maturing Tomato!

Friday's harvest includes 6 Orange Paruche, 2 Yellow Perfection and Sugar Snack for a total of 9 tomatoes.

We had a friend come over to watch the LA Kings game (They're the Stanley Cup Champions!!!). We tried several tomatoes. All were quite good but all of us were noticing how good Orange Paruche tasted. I think we'll plant this every year if we see it around...

Today's harvest includes 12 Orange Paruche, 2 Stupice, Yellow Perfection, Sunchocola and SunGold for a total of 17 tomatoes.

While training the back yard tomato plants at night, I noticed that a Matt's Wild Cherry tomato is maturing. Also, Paul Robeson and Brad's Black Heart have growing tomatoes.

Kings Win!!

Today's harvest: 6 Husky Cherry Red(2), 5 Husky Cherry Red(1), 5 SunGold, 2 Sweet Million and 2 Sweet Baby Girl for a total of 20 tomatoes.

I woke up earlier than usual yesterday. In the morning all I did was harvest.

I got home early from work, just in time to start watching hockey with my wife. The Los Angeles Kings won the Stanley Cup!!!!!!!!! Enough said.

When I woke up this morning the Kings had still won the Stanley Cup. It wasn't a dream. I did a little bit of training during this morning's harvest.

Italian Tree Has A Growing Tomato!

Today's harvest: 3 Husky Cherry Red(1) and SunSugar for a total of 4 tomatoes.

My wife and I watered the back yard tomato plants today. While watering I spent a lot of time training the back yard tomatoes. I trained the front yard tomatoes last night.

My wife cleaned up Green Zebra Thursday night -- it had a fair amount of black and decaying leaves on it.

Italian Tree has a growing tomato on it. Sweet Baby Girl has a mature tomato in the middle of the plant. I may harvest it tomorrow.

Here's an image of the Indigo Rose. Yes, the tomato is dark blue/purple. We are definitely looking forward to this!!

Go Kings!!

Started Making Our Own Tomato Cages

Earlier today we bought some concrete reinforcing wire as well as some metal stakes. We're going to build our own tomato cages! We had used up all the tomato cages we own but were short about a dozen.

We watched the Los Angeles Kings sweep the St. Louis Blues, ate an early dinner and went about building cages. The first thing we noted was that our tools couldn't break the reinforcing wire without a lot of trouble. So back to the hardware store to get the appropriate tool.

It was still a struggle, but after the fifth cage we were starting to get the hang of it. Concrete reinforcing wire is pretty strong! The trouble comes when you try to wrestle (and wrestle is the operative phrase) the wire to where you want it to go.

Several plants have tomatoes. Perhaps I'll take an inventory tomorrow of the plants with tomatoes.

Took My Wife To A Hockey Game

Today's harvest: Nothing.

We do have a maturing winter tomato and a maturing Cherokee Chocolate tomato. The Cherokee Chocolate may be ready tomorrow.

I took my wife and a friend to their first hockey game last night. The Los Angeles Kings beat the Dallas Stars in a shootout. Everyone had fun.
